Glorious Leaders have been honored today for extraordinary courage and bravery.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Four California lawmakers who stood up to their parties during last year’s state budget crisis have been awarded the annual John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award.
The award was presented Monday to two Democrats, Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg and former Assembly Speaker Karen Bass, and two Republicans, former Senate Minority Leader Dave Cogdill (COG’-dill) and former Assembly Minority Leader Mike Villines (VUH’-lines).
Kennedy’s family created the honor to recognize the work of elected public servants. Past recipients include President Gerald Ford and former U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan.
Despite a series of tax increases and spending cuts, California’s budget is back in the red, with a deficit of $19 billion.

Caroline Kennedy responded to the criticism that the largest tax increase in CA history did not solve the state’s financial problem with a very compelling argument. “I think its a good example for legislatures across the country and for all Americans. We really need to get serious about solving problems our country faces. People realize that these problems are very serious. We need to begin to work together and reach across party lines, everyone has to give up something.” Praise her.
Im glad we are finally giving trophies to people who are taking our money. I’m so dumb im going to god damn shit all over my own face immidiately. Fuck you to wanna be heros who save people from life threatening situations. It takes a real man to take your money away and live a lavish lifestyle with your money. Mother fucking praise.
