NEW YORK – A New York City teenager has been arrested on a felony charge in the death of a younger sibling’s hamster…If convicted, she could face up to two years in prison.
While obviously destroying someone else’s property needs to be punished, the possibility of sending a 19 year old kid to prison for 2 years over a dead hamster strikes me as ridiculous.
Property crimes should be treated as property crimes, not homicides.
