A very interesting video that posits the USS Enterprise will be sunk by Israeli subs in a false flag attack in order to start a war with Iran, in much the same way the Israelis attacked the USS Liberty in order to get the US involved in a war with Egypt.
According to this January 22, 2012 AP report:
Panetta also told the crowd of 1,700 gathered in the hangar bay of the USS Enterprise that the ship is heading to the Persian Gulf region and will steam through the Strait of Hormuz in a direct message to Tehran.
The USS Enterprise is scheduled for decommission in the fall of 2012. As the video notes, it seems unusual to send a carrier that is scheduled for decommission into the Gulf. And, as the video notes, it would be a perverse “win” for the Navy in a financial sense if the carrier happened to meet an untimely demise while on patrol there given the enormous costs of decommissioning the ship’s 8 nuclear reactors.
I think this idea has some merit. For one, there are no witnesses other than the sonar operators of near by ships. Obviously this is something which is important from a false flag perspective. From first hand experience, I know how most sonar rooms operate. The notion that sonar operators are constantly on vigil like air traffic controllers monitoring ship traffic has no basis in reality. That may be the case for submarines, but not for surface ships. Most sonar operators on surface ships are sitting back drinking coffee and joking while on watch.
Further, the odds of a surface ship sonar operator actually detecting a diesel-electric sub operating on batteries is basically zero. If the Israelis were to fire an Iranian type torpedo at the Enterprise, the odds of the American fleet detecting the Israeli sub and sinking it in retaliation are nearly zero, especially if such an attack were to occur in deep water. Those subs are all but invisible when they dive deep.
Such a staged attack would be a perfect way to start a war. The only way such a staged attack might not work is if a US submarine was operating with the Enterprise. Even then, it would be a difficult hunt for the Israeli sub if the attack was in deep water. I spent a lot of time in my ship’s sonar room as I had friends who were sonar techs and I was considering becoming one myself. Surface ship sonar is basically worthless junk. It works, but only in the right conditions and only against targets who make mistakes. Subs operating on batteries are invisible to surface sonar. They make less noise than our nuclear boats as they have no pumps running to cool reactors.
Another item of note is that the Enterprise itself has no sonar array. It relies entirely on escort ships and its aircraft for sub detection and defense. This means that if there were no other ships near by when the attack occurred, there would be no data record of the sound signatures that could identify the type of torpedo or the sub that launched them. It also means that it has no way to know if it is under torpedo attack unless an escort ship is near by to warn it. Further, the escort ship would have to triangulate a bearing and direction for the torpedo in relation to the position of the Enterprise in order to give the Enterprise correct directions for evasion. I don’t believe this is something that sonar rooms routinely practice. Basically what I’m trying to get at here is that US carriers are gigantic no-miss targets for any halfway competent sub commander if they are operating without a sub/destroyer escort.
As I write this article, I keep thinking of more things to add. I would also like you to consider various types of mines. Specialized “mines” exist that are nothing like the WWII era mines of old. New mines can actually be acoustic homing torpedoes that can identify certain ship sounds before activating. They can sit on the ocean floor listening for a specific ship signature to pass overhead before they activate an attack sequence. Obviously if one of these mines were to be deployed against the Enterprise, there would be no “enemy” sub to even retaliate against. The mine could be pre-programmed to only attack a ship matching the Enterprise’s specific signature.
Some other recent information that makes me believe a major false flag attack is imminent:
A CounterPunch informant reports:
“I was visiting ABCNews the other day to see a friend who works on graphics. When I went to his room, he showed me all the graphics he was making in anticipation of the Israeli attack on Iran; not just maps, but flight patterns, trajectories, and 3-d models of U.S. aircraft carrier fleets.
“But what was most disturbing – was that ABC, and presumably other networks, have been rehearsing these scenarios for over 2 weeks, with newscasters and retired generals in front of maps talking about missiles and delivery systems, and at their newsdesks – the screens are emblazoned with “This is a Drill” to assure they don’t go out on air – (like War of the Worlds).
“Then reports of counter-attacks by Hezballah in Lebanon with rockets on Israeli cities – it was mind-numbing. Very disturbing – when pre-visualization becomes real.”
Another CounterPuncher emails:
“Just a quick possible scoop for the news room – I have a neighbor who bounces for a Seattle bar, and he had some very rowdy US service men in the bar the other night. When he asked them what was up, they told him they were being deployed to the mid-east as a front-running group for an operation in Iran.”
Ed Asner recently stated in an interview with Infowars that:
Appearing on the Alex Jones Show on Monday, Emmy Award-winning actor Ed Asner said Navy Seals have told him military action against Iran is forthcoming and will be preceded by a false flag attack.
Asner told Alex and his nationally syndicated radio show audience that the Seals are attempting to alert the American people about the prospect of a false flag operation and “more foreign escapades” before the establishment media “starts brainwashing us.”
Press TV just reported that attacks on Israeli embassies are false flag ops according to the Iranian MP. This sentiment was further supported by the Intel Hub, in an article that lists numerous sources in support of a staged attack being orchestrated by western powers.
Infowars reported back in 2007 that:
Former National Security Advisor and founding member of the Trilateral Commission Zbigniew Brzezinski tacitly warned a Senate Foreign Relations Committee last week that an attack on Iran could be launched following a staged provocation in Iraq or a false flag terror attack within the U.S.
Brzezinski alluded to the potential for the Bush administration to manufacture a false flag Gulf of Tonkin type incident in describing a “plausible scenario for a military collision with Iran,” which would revolve around “some provocation in Iraq or a terrorist act in the US blamed on Iran, culminating in a ‘defensive’ US military action against Iran that plunges a lonely America into a spreading and deepening quagmire eventually ranging across Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan.”
We know they are itching to pull the trigger on a hot war with Iran. I’m sure they were hoping that the act of war they committed against Iran by imposing violently enforced trade sanctions would push Iran into an aggressive response. But since Iran has shown restraint, they are looking to take matters into their own hands.
