Very powerful. Your father sounds like he was a brave (and lucky) man. The saddest part of these stories is that in order to escape, people like your father have to leave their families behind. Thankfully his family was not persecuted for his actions – I know that in North Korea, for example, families are basically held as hostage in case someone should escape.
