If we never use it when it actually matters?
Prosecutors in Wisconsin have elected to charge two twelve-year-old girls as adults in the “Slender Man” attempted murder case.
THEY ARE TWELVE YEARS OLD.
THEY THINK AN INTERNET MEME IS REAL.
They didn’t try to kill someone over a bad drug deal. They didn’t try to kill someone because they were trying to rob them. They didn’t try to kill someone out of a jealous fit of rage. They tried to kill someone because they were trying to prove the existence of an internet meme based fictitious monster.
Obviously they must be held to the same standard as your typical thirty-year-old when it comes to criminal culpability. Anything less and the Earth might go flying off its axis and tumble into the Sun.
Let’s put them behind bars for half their life with hardened criminals in an adult penitentiary. That will show them who’s boss! I’m sure they will turn out to be perfect citizens after growing up behind bars.
I hope to God someone rational steps in and puts the brakes on this, lest the adults in the case end up looking more like irrational babies than the kids involved.
