Enemy Public Number One: The Government – The History of American Militias

This is one of the most fantastic short documentaries on the history of American militias that I’ve ever seen.

The video note states:

What was the purpose of the Second Amendment?

A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the peple to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

A Congressman was reprimanded by the House when he said, “it is not for killing little ducks … it’s for hunting politicians … when they take your independence away.”

Is that why tyrannical politicians do not like guns in the hands of the public? Find out in this facinating documentary. Discover exactly what our founding fathers thought about militias and military firearms. Find out what later American politicians learned from Adolf Hitler, whose oberfurher announced, “All military type firearms are to be handed in immediately. Anyone who does not belong to (the S.S.) … and who keeps his weapon … must be regarded as an enemy of the national government.” Produced in 1994 by Gun Owners Foundation.

James Madison is quoted as saying “The advantage of being armed forms a barrier against the enterprise of ambition.  The governments of Europe are afraid to trust the people with arms.  If they did, the people would certainly shake off the yoke of tyranny, as America did.”

George Washington is quoted as saying that privately held firearms are “The liberty teeth of a free people.”

Thomas Jefferson is quoted as saying “When governments fear the people there is liberty.  When people fear the government, there is tyranny.”

The person who spoke the greatest heresy of them all – Patrick Henry, said that anyone who threatened liberty needed to be threatened with downright force and “Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined.”

Strong words.

Henry’s speech is orated in the video by a professional actor.
