Elderly Prison Population Grew 94 Times Faster Than Overall Population

Between 2007 and 2010, the number of state and federal prisoners over the age of 65 grew 94 times faster than the overall prison population.  The costs associated with these aging prisoners are staggering.  Prisoners who are released past the age of 45 only have a 16.9% chance of returning for any new sentences.
